Healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy smile. According to Dr Alice Britto, gum health plays a vital role not only in supporting teeth, but also in overall wellbeing.
Inflamed or bleeding gums can be early signs of gum disease, which may lead to tooth loss if left untreated. Research has also linked poor gum health to systemic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Regular hygiene appointments help remove plaque and bacteria that brushing alone cannot reach. With gentle, preventive care, gum disease can often be avoided entirely. At our Chelsea clinic, we focus on education and early intervention because caring for your gums today prevents more invasive treatments tomorrow. 📍 Book a hygiene appointment in Chelsea, London and protect the foundation of your smile. ******* Book your appointment 📍 18 Cadogan Gardens, London SW3 2RP 📞 020 3659 7249 | WhatsApp: 07903 782697 https://www.icmdentistry.co.uk/book-now

Food particles or sugar stuck in teeth are a breeding ground for bacteria.
These bacteria then ferment the food and produce acids which dissolves the minerals of the tooth. This leads to the demineralization of the surfaces of teeth which appear like black colored holes on the tooth surface. Need a dental check-up? The best way to treat sensitive teeth is by visiting a dentist who can identify the underlying cause and determine the best course of action for treatment. Your dentist may suggest desensitizing toothpaste or fluoride treatments in order to reduce tooth sensitivity.

Floss can clean places that your toothbrush can’t reach. To floss properly:
* Break off about 18 inches of floss and wrap it around your middle fingers. * Use your thumbs and forefingers to hold the floss tightly so there’s an inch or two of it between your fingers. * Guide that middle section between your teeth, wrap the floss around one tooth (in a “C” shape), and rub up and down the length of that tooth seven to 10 times. (Note: Friction is necessary to remove plaque from your teeth surfaces. Water flossers are great for removing large pieces of food and debris. But if you use a water flosser, be sure you also use regular floss.) * Now, wrap the floss around the neighbouring tooth and repeat these steps. If you haven’t been flossing, there might be some bleeding and discomfort for the first few days, but that should go away. Need a dental check-up?
